Project One: Teaching with
Multimedia
This 1992-93 project took place at Seneca College and involved 8 teachers
from 3 colleges. They were given the opportunity to learn how to create
educational software using Authorware, Coreldraw and other tools. In this
document, you will find a summary of the project as well as an outline
of the instruction given these teachers. Also included is a description
of the process involved in building a prototype module, "Networking".

Project Two: Live and
Learn
This project was conducted as a partnership: Seneca College, TVO and
Mohawk College. A distance learning package was created, "Live and Learn"
for Portfolio Development courses to assist Prior Learning Assessment at
colleges throughout Ontario. Funded by the Ministry of Education and Training,
the package includes a study guide, four half-hour video docudramas and
a hybrid CD ROM.

July 1993
This report covers the initial organization of the project: research,
developing working relationships, and becoming familiar with delivery media
and methodology.

August 1993
Collecting resource materials re: Portfolio Development curriculum,
distance learning, and software design for computer-assisted learning;
Ideas developed for writer of video series. Learning project tools.

September 1993
Script development, areas of responsibility and lines of communication
established with all partners. First draft storyboard outline.

October 1993
Working with TVO writer and producer on video script revisions. Taking
Multimedia course, researching CD ROM format.

November/December 1993
CD ROM proposal approved, begin storyboarding and scripting. Office/work
stations set up at Seneca College. Casting for Video series. Location scouting.

January/February 1994
On location taping with TVO on location and in studio; graphics students
selected and begin graphics based on storyboard.

March/April 1994
Post production on video series; graphics completed for CD ROM, sound
files and animation in production.

May/June 1994
The big finale. Desktop publication of revised study guide. Post production
completed on video series. CD ROM one-off, revisions, mastering.
