LIVE AND LEARN - CD ROM OVERVIEW FOUR MODULES can be explored to assist the student of Portfolio Development in translating life experience into learning outcomes. The program profiles four adult learners who are involved in the process of Portfolio Development. MODULE 1: Exploring Experience: Building superintendent, Beverley, looks at her achievements as she plans for advancement in her career. In this module, she examines her work experience and begins to categorize and cluster skills. : Guidelines are given to help the user distinguish between what is experience and what is learning. : The Honeybee provides a review of exploring experiences. : Travel is an activity which demonstrates the process of exploring. MODULE 2: Being Creative: Data entry clerk, Elena, looks at her accumulated experience in a variety of ways in order to gain new insights. Her dream job is that of writer and illustrator of childrens' literature. : Learning Styles are shown so the users may realize in what ways they learn most effectively. : The octopus is viewed to illustrate the benefits of flexibility and change. : Giving a garden party is the activity; a creative approach in developing a practical idea. MODULE 3: Decisions, Decisions: George, a former accountant, is shown making the decisions about his learning that lead him to a new career in photography. : Transferable skills are shown to assist the learner in selecting learning outcomes to serve preferred goals. : The Owl demonstrates a a review of making appropriate and necessary decisions. : The Detective example shows a problem-solving progressing from first clue to final judgement. MODULE 4: Show and Tell: Simon gets ready to present his learning in the portfolio he has developed. His decision to pursue a Youth and Child Care Worker Diploma gives him direction for this presentation. : A large selection of action words are given for the users' own process in writing more effective learning statements : The Dragon symbolizes a dynamic presentation.
