VOYAGE OF DISCOVERY: AN IDEAL DAY IN TORONTO

Welcome to "Voyage of Disovery"--an interactive lesson  designed to equip you with some basic Internet search skills and sharpen your problem-solving abilities. The lesson was created by Mary, Selia, Suzie, Mary Anne, Hyesook and Matilda using constructivist models. YOUR TASK:
You are going on a voyage to discover or re-discover the beautiful city of Toronto. To complete yourvoyage, you will be required to use a number of Internet search engines. You are to locate and assess Internet sites  that will assist you in designing two "perfect days" in Toronto. You will choose clients from the choices given in "Learning Materials." One of the clients may be you. Then you will create  itineraries for each of the clients you selected based on a 24 hour period. In your itineraries, you must include times, costs, transportation modes, accomodations, meals, snacks, etc. Also, you must identify the Internet sites you used to help you write your itineraries.

FINAL PRODUCTS:

• You will prepare a written itinerary for both clients (approximately 3-4 pages, double-spaced, in length).
• You may work with a partner or with a small group.
• The itineraries must be detailed (make sure you include all activities, costs, transportation modes, estimated times, admission costs, snacks, meals, etc.).
• Itineraries must be designed to appeal to the clients chosen.
• Clear comparisons must be made between clients.
• -written reports must be professional in appearance and must be written using proper language conventions.
• All Internet sites used to compile itineraries must be acknowledged in proper form.
• At least two different search engines must be used  to locate Internet sites.
• A verbal report comparing the two itineraries will be made by  you and your partner (or small group).
• In this presentation you will be expected to compare and  contrast the itineraries and provide an assessment of the  sources you used to create the itineraries.
• Clear, concise language must be used.
• The presentation must not exceed ten (10) minutes in length  and must demonstrate competency in using the Internet and in  collaborative learning.
