Guest Speakers for CTL1799 Summer 2005
(links no longer active on guests' pages are marked in red)

The following guests agreed to meet with the participants of Holistic Approaches to Information Technology using OISENet chat during the week August 1-7, 2005. Each guest was asked to provide information about themselves and their projects (five links) to enable the class to explore prior to the chat session and to formulate meaningful questions to ask in the session. All questions were forwarded to the Metal Team who moderated the chats - they chose several of the more provocative questions to ask during the chat sessions. I was be in attendance to lend support to the process. The chat logs from these sessions were posted for the benefit of all of the class and further discussions took place asynchronously in the Guest Speaker View throughout the week.  At the end of the week, the Metal Team briefly summarized the week of guest chats and gave highlights and resources referenced in the discussions.

Here are the Guests that were scheduled to speak between 7 and 8 pm, August 2, 3, 4 and 5, 2005.

August 2, Tuesday - Tassos Theodoridis - http://astralsite.com/teach/Theodoridis.html
Tassos and I took several courses together at OISE and collaborated on the site, Home on the Info Range back in 1996.  We co-presented at the TCC conference online in 2002 (Successful strategies in a hybrid, skills – intensive constructivist environment). Tassos conducted research regarding the use of a computer assisted program (e-Lective) for English Second Language students in a number of my classes at Seneca.

August 3, Wednesday - Susan Learney - http://astralsite.com/teach/Learney.html
Susan graduated from the Designing Curriculum Using Information Technology Certificate Program at Seneca College. This is an online program and in the process, Susan was in my Web-Based Learning course.  Since that time we have served on a number of elearning and curriculum design teams together. Susan now heads up the eLearning Centre at Seneca's main campus, with many creative projects, primarily, assisting professors in the design and development of online courses.

August 4, Thursday - Winnie Hunsburger - http://astralsite.com/teach/Hunsburger.html
In WInter 2004, Winnie was in the online course, Enhancing Holistic Learning with Computer Technology. I first met her in my Holistic Curriculum class the previous summer. Her leadership inspired other students in both classes and her participation and projects were a joy to behold.

August 5, Friday - Vanessa Peters - http://astralsite.com/teach/Peters.html
A very bright light was shining in my Summer 2004 class online.  Vanessa was an outstanding role model - leading her team and the class as a whole to high standards and stimulating discussions and projects.
