Selia Karsten is conducting research at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Professor Rina Cohen, Department of Curriculum Teaching and Learning. Proposed research looks towards a better understanding of designing curriculum which uses technology and of the affect of this curriculum on learners. In particular, this inquiry looks at the integration of arts-based and holistic approaches to a course in computer applications for international business and marketing students in a two or three year certificate or diploma program at a post secondary institution.

Learners who have taken part in this experimental computer applications course are asked to participate in this research. Participation is completely voluntary and has no impact on evaluation or assessment of the learner in any studies in any courses. Participants may be asked to take part in post-course surveys and open-ended interviews after the course is completed. These interviews will be recorded. The identities of the interviewees will be kept strictly confidential and records will be kept safe and secure. All participants will be noted on transcripts and data collections by a pseudonym. All data will be stored in a secure password protected server.

Participants may withdraw from the study at any time by advising the researcher of this intention. Participants may review and comment on any parts of the dissertation that represents this research before publication.
